About Jenna

Over the last decade I’ve worked with children in a multitude of roles. Most of that time has been spent in schools, first as a teacher and more recently as a speech-language pathologist. And what I can tell you from that experience is that children are brilliant. They have an incredible capacity for imagination, play and adventure. They come in a million different packages and are naturally resilient in ways that continue to astound me.

My most successful teaching and therapy sessions have come from following the lead of the child. Success for me is more than instructing a five year old how to say his “ssssssss-nake” sound. It is ensuring that every child I work with feels seen and heard. Because, in my opinion, that is the space where transformations take shape.

The question is never: “What’s wrong with you and how do I fix you?”
It is always: “What do YOU need to thrive?”
And that answer denies a one-size-fits-all methodology.

The same approach has served me in supporting the teachers and educational associates that I work with. They are some of the hardest working, most creative people I’ve ever encountered. They are the front-line staff that my success is dependent upon. Supporting them, learning with and through them and empowering them so their capacity to enhance learning for their students grows and their brilliance shines through is why I created my workshops and it is what I love to do.

Testimonials

We had Jenna Howden, Speech & Language Pathologist, come and do a presentation for the Educational Assistants at our school. The day was balanced to provide theory and practice. She went over the common errors children have, gave us a binder and explained how to go about setting up a speech and language therapy session. The presentation was very well organized, and most of all she made it fun!  She provided hands on examples and games with demonstrations. We also used SLP students in our school to demonstrate and provide therapy. I would highly recommend Jenna!”
